30% is an Improvement

In a CBS Poll, it says that about 30% of Americans support the rights of Homosexuals to be Married. A slightly less number support ‘some sort of gay union‘ but not MARRIAGE.
Twenty-eight percent approve of civil unions, 30 percent for allowing gay couples to marry – the highest number since CBS began asking that question in 2004 (source – CBS News)
Personally, that is rather sad. To think that a majority of Americans do not believe Gays have the same rights as they do. Even those who think ‘some sort of union‘ other than marriage is okay, they miss the point. It is called SEGREGATION. Just like they had Black Schools for the African American’s, calling it Equal but Separate. So too is Civil Unions instead of Marriage.
If you read The Locker or are reading The Secret, I think you might see why it is so important to end this Inequality in Law. If we are to avoid the abuse, to make it easier for ALL CITIZENS to be protected from Abuse, from Hate, then we need to stop the SEPARATE BUT EQUAL BULLSHIT.
In The Locker, a student is harassed, is bullied and beaten up, not because he made a play for a straight kid, not because he flirted with a straight kid, but simply because he was Gay. The one person who cared for him, stood by, because he was tired of fighting, tired of having to face the Bullies of the World. Tired of keeping his own Secret.
In The Secret, a nineteen year old tries to kill himself, because he is tired of life. He is overwhelmed by guilt, for being who God created. That is why he tries to kill himself, not realizing that he is as much a child of God, as is the one who abused him, who bullied him, who decries homosexuality.
And that is why we need MARRIAGE, not some SEPARATE BUT EQUAL BULLSHIT.
