When did the United States take ownership of the Internet?

The way the United States Congress acts, you would think that they own the entire Internet, that they have jurisdiction over what citizens in other countries can and cannot do. Frankly it is just one more example of the United States Congress acting like the Bully that it is.

Whether it is George Bush or Bill Clinton or Whoever, there is this insane presumption that the United States is the Owner of the Internet. That they, and they alone, have the right to dictate what can and cannot be made available online. Naturally they cover that arrogance under the guise of simply attempting to protect children, but the reality is, that they don’t give a rat’s ass about Children.

If they did, then there wouldn’t be some 23 Million American Children with little or No health insurance.

Fact is, that I am a Canadian Citizen. I live in Canada , my site is designed and hosted in Canada , and operates on the Internet. Yet the United States Congress believes that I should have the personal details of every model that is shown on my site. Even though I do not photograph or video them, the US Congress insists that I should have that information, be available 20 hours a week for them to inspect the documents.

Personally I have no problem with keeping records, and of insuring that those whose pictures I take, are of legal age. Problem is, I don’t take the photographs, make the videos. I simply offer them for sale through the sites that actually have taken the pictures. I am not a producer, despite what the United States Congress seems to think.

After watching several episodes of Predator from MSNBC, I am even more convinced of how stupid the US Congress is, with its rules like 2257 and 4472. I mean seriously, they want photographers and videographers to provide every webmaster with all the documents of each and every model. This includes their real name, cross references by stage name, and productions.

Now I can see them having to do that, but why webmaster’s like me?

I suppose because there are so many solo operations, like mine, they figure it’ll be easier to intimidate and coerce than some studio or production house. More than likely they are right too, plus it does give them an edge in securing precedent cases. However, it is also a huge risk to people’s lives.

If you ever watch those Predator Shows, you’ll know what I mean. Christ, they get so many pedophiles coming out of the woodwork, you would think that they would focus on the chat rooms, but nope, the US Government thinks it is better to try and legislate the hell out of ordinary webmasters. They think that insisting that every Tom Dick and Harry has access to the private information of a Model, that it will reduce the amount of child pornography.

Yeah, and George Bush is a Liberal in Disguise.

I am responsible for what I write. The stories are mine, and it is from the sale of video rentals and site membership that I am able to afford the cost of web hosting. That is how I make my money. Granted, there are some non nude pictures of my wife online, but they are not porn. I have seen a lot worse posted in some so called beauty pageant sites, which leads me to another point. How in the hell can that be accepted and legal?

Those are definitely minors, and yet there is no government legislation designed to insure they aren’t taken advantage of. Again, it just shows that all this legislation is merely a smoke screen. It isn’t about protecting one single child, but about getting re-elected. Interesting to note, that one of the major sponsors of 4472 was Representative Mark Foley. You know, the Republican who resigned when it came to light that he was making lewd advances to Congressional Paige’s.

Sure don’t see him doing any time. Hell he wasn’t even charged. Yet a webmaster in the United States can go to jail for Five Years for having improper records of the models appearing on their sites.

Those who photograph or video models, certainly should have those records. I sure as hell shouldn’t. And what is to stop some crazy from getting that information, and using it to stalk these models?

All that aside, what ever happened to Free Speech?

I should have the right to speak my mind, to illustrate what I find attractive or not. The naked human body, in my mind, is a beautiful piece of work. I admire how some are built a certain way, and while I enjoy describing it in my fiction, it is still nice to look at. Yet somehow, the United States Government feels it is their obligation to tell me what is appropriate and what isn’t.

Not my own Government mind you, just the opinion of some horny old men, from another country. I mean they can play footsie in a bathroom stall, can hire hookers even, send lewd emails to underage boys, but Lord help some citizen who wants to show a naked 22 year old with a hard on.

Simple fact is this.

If you don’t want your children to find these sites, view these sites, then get off your own fat asses, sit beside your child when they are online, and SUPERVISE THEM. It should not be up to some nameless stranger to insure your child isn’t watching the latest Bel Ami Video or reading one of my Erotic Short Stories.

THAT IS YOUR JOB AS THE PARENT.

There are tons of Parental Filters that actually come with the newer computers. Anti Virus programs all seem to have them as well, and there are other commercial products available for use by any Parent that has the actual desire to keep their children safe.  

There is no mistaking that this site is Adult. I label it, and that label is not hard to miss. I try to do my part, but frankly it is up to the Parent to be doing their job. After all, it is they who are upset about kids seeing porn, and it is them who have kids that are doing it.

Naturally it isn’t easy. It means giving up a night out with the boys, or girls. It means not sitting for an hour in the tub soaking. Yes, it means keeping the computer in the family room and not in your child’s bedroom, but those are the prices one MUST PAY, if they want to be a RESPONSIBLE PARENT.

Unfortunately, far too many so called Parents are unwilling to do this. So they rant and rave, protest even, to get Congress to pass stupid laws, that protect no one, save not one child from harm, simply so they can lay claim to being a Good Parent.

Got news for them. THEY AREN’T.
